Welcome to the Identify and produce estimated costs for building and construction projects module.

Every resource in a construction project, from acquisition of materials to labour has an associated cost. Therefore, undertaking a construction project is a huge commitment for anyone involved. It is in everyone's best interest for everything to be accounted for before construction even begins. One of the things you must account for in a construction project is how much the project will cost to complete.

In this module, you will gain skills and knowledge required to establish estimated costs associated with the acquisition of materials and labour for building and construction projects including factoring in relevant overhead costs and margins. You will learn to compile all costs of a construction project, both direct costs such as building material and labour costs, and indirect costs such as rent, utilities, and supplies and produce the estimated cost of a construction project accordingly.

As you will progress through this module , you will learn how to:

  • Establish project requirements
  • Calculate materials and labour costs
  • Identify type and cost of physical resources
  • Produce estimated project costs
