A tourist is a person who travels and visits places, either domestically or internationally. They will be driven by various motivations to travel such as leisure, business, family etc. A tourist will travel for a period of 24 hours or more in a place other than where they reside.
Visiting tourists are one of the main reasons a country like New Zealand thrives – because tourism is so important to our economy! Our clean, green image, landscape and amazing people are huge assets to the country and people travel from all over the world to experience what we have to offer.
If tourism is so important to us; then so are the tourists.
This unit is all about understanding the different types of tourists and what their needs might be. Knowing this is extremely important so that we can meet the needs and encourage tourists to come back to our fantastic country.
