Nau mai, haere mai

Kylie possesses over 20 years of experience in the tertiary education sector, where she previously occupied various executive positions within different brands under the Up Education Group. These roles included CEO and Chief Operating Officer, and she played a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation's success and sustainability across its core operations, acquisitions, quality management processes, and leadership development.

Kylie was CEO of both NZMA and the NZ School of Tourism Group (NZST) throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and led both businesses through the challenges and transforming the operations to maintain relevance and funding. During her tenure leading NZST, Kylie successfully led the team through two NZQA External Evaluation and Review processes, resulting in a Highly Confident rating for both educational performance and self-assessment capability.

In 2022, Kylie also guided the NZMA group through the same NZQA External evaluation, achieving the highest outcome, Category 1, signifying a high level of competence and confidence.

Additionally, Kylie holds an MBA from Massey University. NZMA continues to thrive, demonstrating agility and adaptability in navigating evolving circumstances.

Below is an organisation chart of Kylie's team (NZMA’s executive team) that help to lead the different parts of the business:

Head of Operations

The Head of Operations (HOO) has general oversight of all of the NZMA Group campuses and works specifically with the Campus Manager team to ensure the academic, financial and operational performance targets of all campuses are met. The HOO leads the operations strategy for NZMA, and works closely with all other verticals in the company to ensure we are meeting our KPIs, providing the best possible experience for our learners, and that our campus teams are well supported.

Head of Quality

The Head of Quality (HoQ) is accountable for ensuring that NZMA campus teams and NZMA as a whole are compliant with TEC, NZQA, and INZ rules and regulations, as well as documented NZMA policies and procedures. The HoQ is responsible for undertaking internal quality assurance processes which feed into external processes, such as moderation of assessments, Code of Practice self-review, qualification consistency reviews, internal audits and reviews, collecting, analysing and disseminating student feedback. The Quality Team uses Campus Quality Compliance Reviews (CQCRs) as the main way to check on compliance and quality activities within each campus. The HoQ works closely with the rest of the Executive team to support their mahi, by providing advice and guidance, reviewing and improving NZMA policies and processes to remove barriers for learner success.

Head of Product and Innovation

The Head of Product and Innovation (HPI) plays a crucial role in positioning NZMA for success in program development and delivery. The HPI collaborates with stakeholders to uncover possibilities for expanding our program portfolio, which influences the selection of future programs. The (Faculty Academic Leads) FALS team creates new programs under the guidance of the HPI and in accordance with NZQA approval guidelines. Additionally, they oversee the upkeep and adherence to our existing program offerings.

Head of Learner Success

The Head of Learner Success (HOLS) ensures equitable outcomes for all learners. The HOLS implements and drives the strategy to ensure each of the campuses are achieving our parity targets. NZMA is working toward no more than 5% parity gap for our priority learners (Māori, Pacifica, Disability). The HOLS does this by building tutor capability through the Learning & Development leads who support tutors through their PDP and support in general classroom delivery. We know student success is linked to an engaging classroom and campus. There are also Learner Success Leads who work closely with campus managers, tutors and students to ensure strong plans are in place to ensure equitable outcomes for all learners, and academic and parity goals are met.

Head of Finance

The Head of Finance collaborates with the CEO to establish NZMA's annual budget. The Head of Finance is also responsible for monitoring both revenue and expenses by utilising a Profit and Loss (P&L) statement that each campus oversees. The finance team, under the supervision of the Head of Finance, manages invoices and payments and ensures timely disbursements. Annually, the finance team submits all accounting records for the business to ensure compliance with the financial responsibilities of the company.

Head of Sales

The Head of Sales, working in conjunction with the Sales team, guarantees that NZMA achieves its annual sales targets. They maintain a vigilant watch on progress and adapt strategies as needed to meet demand. The Head of Sales frequently collaborates with various departments to ensure campus capacity, program suitability, and effective marketing. They spearhead the sales strategy and ensure that the team is adequately prepared to meet the annual sales targets set for each campus.
