Students enrolled in Online Diploma programmes, will have the opportunity to include a domestic internship as part of their programme. This will be for a minimum of three months or 300 hours and on successful completion of the internship requirements you will gain 30 credits towards our qualification.
Objective
The objective of the Internship is to integrate knowledge with practical application to deliver graduate attributes identified in the graduate profile of the Diploma in Tourism and Travel Management Level 5.
The Internship is the final course in the Diploma in Tourism and Travel Management Level 5 and all other modules in the Diploma must have been completed successfully before the start of an internship.
Internship positions must be approved by the online facilitator or Team Leader for the programme. The internship will create relevance for post-classroom learning, develop workplace social and human relations skills, and provide an opportunity for students to apply communication and problem-solving skills.
If a student is already in employment, then the internship may take place at the student’s workplace subject to the nature of the business, its appropriateness for enabling the achievement of the graduate attributes of the programme and the specific internship course requirements and the agreement of the employer and NZST that the workplace provides an appropriate environment for the internship.
If it is deemed that the student’s workplace does not provide an appropriate environment, then the student will be required to undertake the Workplace Practices Module 7 Online.
Students on internships in this program will complete assessments 1-3 by the end of the internship requirement.
A student’s performance during the internship will be evaluated by the on-site supervisor and their attestation to the student having worked at least 300 hours.
