Congratulations on enrolling in the New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trades Supervision (Level 5) Commercial Building Strand (Distance).

The aim of this programme is to provide you with the applied skills, knowledge and capability needed to supervise teams and manage work schedules on a commercial construction site.

The courses will provide you with the construction workplace skills, knowledge, and capabilities to be able to work in a variety of supervisory roles, to manage and support construction teams, to plan and coordinate work schedules, and, in doing so, adhere to legislative requirements and best practices to achieve industry standards.

You will also be introduced to the specific knowledge and skills required for current commercial building methods and best practices and develop skills for supervisory roles, which may include site supervisor, site foreman, or carpentry site supervisor.

Make the most of your time on this course, ask questions, seek guidance, and set goals that will help you to achieve!

Assessments/Aromatawai

Our competency-based assessments are designed to evaluate learners' skills in authentic commercial construction work contexts.

These assessment materials are created by our team and quality assured by NZMA. Assessment tasks reflect the onsite knowledge, duties and responsibilities required of a construction site supervisor and include logbooks of workplace evidence, workplace observations and interviews.

This is an example of how the modularised assessment schedule might look over 45 weeks of study. Pre-requisite modules1 and the modules dependent on these2 are presented in the same column. Assessment occurs in the third week of all modules.
