Welcome to your next module - Design and Produce Spreadsheets.

In this module, you will learn the skills and knowledge required to use spreadsheet software to plan, create and produce functional spreadsheets.

The learning is broken down into three (3) topics:

  1. Planning the design and functionality of spreadsheets, including organisational requirements for ergonomics, work periods and breaks as well as sustainability
  2. Formulas and functions
  3. Creating spreadsheets

There are many available spreadsheet software packages that can be used for business purposes. There will be opportunities throughout the module to develop your knowledge and skills using the spreadsheet features in Microsoft Office Excel to prepare you for your assessments.

Microsoft Excel is a software program produced by Microsoft that allows users to organise, format and calculate data with formulas using a spreadsheet application. Excel is part of the Microsoft Office suite and is compatible with other applications in the Office suite. It can be purchased through the cloud through a subscription to Office 365 or as a stand-alone app. Excel is one of the most widely used office tools for bookkeepers and accountants due to its versatility and specific financial applications.

If used correctly, a spreadsheet can be a powerful tool for businesses. Spreadsheets may be customised to perform various activities and provide efficiencies and insights into a business. Planning the design and functionality of a spreadsheet is instrumental to the user experience.
