Welcome to your next module - Design and Produce Complex Spreadsheets.

In this module, you will learn the skills and knowledge required to use spreadsheet software to create complex spreadsheets and store and retrieve data.

With this module, you will elevate your existing spreadsheet skills to a professional level, gaining expertise in advanced functionalities. You will be equipped to perform complex data analysis to tackle sophisticated analytical challenges and enhance your data-driven decision-making capabilities.

The learning will be broken down into five (5) topics:

  1. Prepare and plan to develop a spreadsheet
  2. Develop a linked spreadsheet solution
  3. Automate and standardise spreadsheet operations
  4. Use spreadsheets
  5. Represent numerical data in graphic form and store spreadsheet.

 

There are many available spreadsheet software packages that can be used for business, such as Google Sheets, Smartsheet, Airtable, Zoho Sheet, LibreOffice Calc, etc.

This module focuses on leveraging Microsoft Excel for data management and analysis.

Microsoft Excel, developed by Microsoft, is a powerful spreadsheet application that enables users to organise, format, and analyse data using advanced formulas. As a core component of the Microsoft Office suite, Excel integrates seamlessly with other Office applications. It is available via a subscription to Microsoft 365 or as a standalone application. Excel’s versatility and robust financial functionalities make it a preferred tool among bookkeepers and accountants, enhancing its status as one of the most widely utilised office tools.

To prepare you for your assessments, there will be opportunities throughout the module to develop the knowledge and skills required when using the complex spreadsheet features in Microsoft Office Excel.

When used effectively, complex spreadsheets can become invaluable assets for businesses. They can be tailored to handle intricate data analysis, automate processes, and deliver deep insights. The detailed planning of a spreadsheet's design and functionality is crucial to optimising performance and enhancing the user experience.
