Welcome to Module BSBWHS412 – Assist with Workplace Compliance with WHS Laws.

This module provides you with the knowledge and skills required to help your workplace comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws. Throughout this module, you will learn about the key elements of WHS legislation, the roles and responsibilities of individuals in maintaining a safe work environment, and how to contribute effectively to WHS consultation and participation processes.

By the end of this module, you will be equipped to assist in creating a safer workplace, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and promoting a culture of health and safety.

There are four (4) areas of study associated with this module, these include:

Work Health and Safety Legal Framework

In this section, you will gain an understanding of the WHS legislative framework, including the key pieces of legislation, regulations, and codes of practice that govern workplace health and safety. You will explore how these laws are structured and the role of various regulatory bodies in enforcing compliance.

Understanding WHS Duties, Rights, and Obligations

Here, you will learn about the specific duties, rights, and obligations of employers, employees, and other parties under WHS laws. This includes identifying the responsibilities each party has in ensuring a safe workplace, understanding the rights of workers to a safe working environment, and recognising the obligations that must be met to maintain compliance.

Assisting with WHS Compliance

This area focuses on the practical aspects of assisting with WHS compliance in the workplace. You will study how to support the implementation of WHS policies and procedures, assist in conducting risk assessments and hazard identifications, and participate in WHS audits and inspections. You will also learn the importance of maintaining accurate WHS records and documentation.

Modifying and Maintaining WHS Compliance

In this final section, you will explore how to improve and sustain WHS compliance over time continuously. This includes understanding the processes for reviewing and updating WHS policies and procedures, implementing changes based on audit findings and feedback, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in workplace health and safety practices.

By the end of this module, you will be equipped to assist in creating a safer workplace, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and promoting a culture of health and safety.
