Welcome to Course 3 – Hospitality Product Development. This course presents an exciting opportunity for you to plan and develop a new product or service for a hospitality business.
In this course you will be working to create a product suitable for a New Zealand hospitality business. This could be related to a food and beverage business, an accommodation business or a travel and tourism business. Examples might include projects such as a popup restaurant or market stall, a beverage product or a service aimed at domestic or international visitors to New Zealand destinations amongst many other possibilities.
This course is designed as a hands-on journey which will take you from scoping an initial concept through to gaining an understanding of the New Zealand business operating environment. You will develop a marketing plan and a financial plan for the project to leave you with a full-fledged hospitality business proposal by the end of the course.
You will bring some of the theoretical knowledge you have gained over the first two courses into a practical application, including:
- Competitor analysis
- Market segmentation
- Sales forecast
- Budget
- Profit and loss projections
Alongside all of this, you will continue to develop your academic investigation and research skills.
