Adobe Illustrator is a powerful vector graphics program. As the name suggests, it can be used to create illustrations using modern digital styles and techniques. Adobe Illustrator can also be used as a layout tool, and it is a more than capable tool for working with typography.

The following seven videos are intended to support the learning and assessment for Graphic Design.

First appearing in Adobe Photoshop version 3 in 1994, layers are one of the fundamental features of a lot of Adobe's contemporary software. Layers in Adobe Indesign and Adobe Illustrator behave slightly differently from the way they do in Adobe Photoshop, however, the concept is still the same. The following video demonstrates some tips and techniques for working with layers in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.

Vector graphics are awesome. Being able to infinitely resize an object without any loss in quality is amazing. However, vector formats are not always appropriate, practical, or supported. Adobe Illustrator includes a range of tools for exporting vector graphics in formats and sizes that are specific to particular productions. The typographic tool in Adobe Illustrator differs slightly from the ones found in Adobe InDesign. The following video demonstrates how to use some of the more interesting type features in Adobe Illustrator, including converting text to outlines and using alternative glyph options.

Converting raster images and graphics in vector illustrations or assets is often referred to as tracing. Images can be traced manually using the drawing and shape tools or programmatically using Adobe Illustrator’s built-in features and presets. The following video demonstrates how to use the image tracing features to convert images into vectors.

Adobe After Effects is a digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing application developed by Adobe Systems and used in the post-production process of filmmaking and television production. Among other things, After Effects can be used for keying, tracking, compositing, and animation. It also functions as a very basic non-linear editor, audio editor, and media transcoder.

Below is a tutorial that you can follow along with, that demonstrates how you can use Adobe After Effects to create motion graphics and visual effects.
