Project scheduling in building and construction is the process of sequencing the tasks, activities, and milestones according to a planned start and end date. In this unit, you will learn how to produce schedules for the physical and human resources and materials necessary to complete a project, including monitoring the construction project schedules and the costs of a construction project as it incurs them.

Producing a labour schedule means sequencing human resources according to each stage of a construction project's needs. On the other hand, a material schedule is a comprehensive list of construction materials needed for a particular job. Material scheduling involves managing materials efficiently. Labour and material schedules are essential to a construction project because they ensure efficient construction service delivery to a client.

This module will focus on equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary to produce labour and material schedules, specifically the knowledge and skills to:

  • Assess physical and human resource requirements.
  • Produce schedules.
  • Monitor project costs and maintain project files.
