Welcome to the Human Resources course where you will explore the process and functions of human resource management (HRM), organisational culture and its impact on a positive working environment, and, key employment legislation and its relevance in organisations, especially tourism.

Consider the role of HRM in an organisation and your experiences with these departments.

Human resource management is the strategic approach to nurturing and supporting employees and ensuring a positive workplace environment. Its functions vary across different businesses and industries but typically include recruitment, compensation and benefits, training and development, and employee relations.

On completing this module, you will be able to analyse and develop human resource management functions and their place in organisations in New Zealand. You will also understand and be able to describe the impact of key legislation on human resource management practice in New Zealand.

The role of HRM in organisations is explored. This will include a written discussion on the functions of HR and the importance of HRM in NZ organisations.
