Here are some resources you may find useful in the preparation for work placement:

  • It is a good idea to get familiar with some of the popular children’s songs. The following 27-minute video is a collection of popular children’s songs:

In the video above, you can read the lyrics if you turn on the captions. Songs included in the video are:

Did you know?

Some of the above children’s songs have actions as well that go with the lyrics.

Action songs are a great way:

  • to interact with a smaller or larger group of children
  • to give children the opportunity to develop:
    • body awareness
    • listening skills
    • the ability to follow directions
    • hand-eye coordination
    • social skills
    • language skills
    • creativity
    • gross and fine motor skills
    • develop a love for music
    • reinforce core educational concepts such as colours, animals, counting, etc.
