Here are some resources you may find useful in the preparation for work placement:

Some of the above children’s songs have actions as well that go with the lyrics.

Action songs are a great way:

  • to interact with a smaller or larger group of children
  • to give children the opportunity to develop:
    • body awareness
    • listening skills
    • the ability to follow directions
    • hand-eye coordination
    • social skills
    • language skills
    • creativity
    • gross and fine motor skills
    • develop a love for music
    • reinforce core educational concepts such as colours, animals, counting, etc.
  • ACECQA’s website to read about regulations, ratios, assessment and rating process or to access the NQF eLearning modules
  • Starting Blocks developed and managed by ACECQA where you can read useful articles and watch videos about child development,
  • On this website you can read about how to obtain a child-safe screening/working with children check (in some states it is called ‘blue card’)

Note, that the working with children check is free for volunteers and students. Usually, you need two types of identity documents.
