Social media is not just about having a Facebook or Instagram account with heaps of followers. While that’s great to have, there is so much planning and strategy that goes into running a truly engaging social platform.

We’ll be going through the nitty gritty of what you need to set up to get started with your social media:

  • What platforms make sense for your business and why
  • The importance of content folders
  • Tips on brand voice and finding your audience
  • Setting goals for your social media
  • Finding inspiration from your competitors

You’ve already created Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok accounts for your business. These days, those platforms are a must-have for all businesses. But what about other platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter? Check out this overview of the most commonly used social media platforms, and feel free to apply it to your business.

  1. Read this blog that outlines the importance of being organised with your content folders. It’s a long one, but we promise it’s worth the read.
  2. Set up your content folder structure and start putting your creative assets into them (logo, product images, team photos, copy, etc).
  3. Take a screenshot of your content folder structure and post it to your thread in the Module 3 Practicals Forum.

Now that your folders are set up, let’s start planning your strategy so you can create content that helps you gain engagement and traction!

Now that you’ve seen an overview of Social media planning from Jazzy, we are going to start working in the document itself.
First up - Brand guide & voice
Second in line - Setting goals

Using this Social Media Planning template, begin work on the below sections. Make sure you download your own copy to edit. The work you’ve already done on your Key to Brand will be really helpful here.

  • Brand Guide
  • Audience Persona
  • Social Media Brand Voice

Post your brand guide and voice document to your thread in the Module 3 Practicals Forum.

Now that you know a little more about planning, it’s time for us to set some goals so that you can post with a purpose. Watch this video to get an overview of social media goal setting.

Now it’s time for you to set some achievable, out-of-the-box, social media goals of your own. Create a small, medium, and big goal for your social media, and list out the actions you need to take in order to achieve it.

Example

Goal:
Generate 300 clicks to the Hello Summer Sale from Facebook between Aug 1-4.

Actions:
Post daily on Facebook
Promote offers on Aug 1 and 3
Use marketing to convert 10% of non-purchasing customers

Post your goals and actions to your thread in the Module 3 Practicals Forum.
