As an online student, you need some IT skills and how to research properly. This section will give you a chance to think about and prepare for success.
Activity – Take the IT skills survey.
This survey is to give you a chance to honestly reflect on where you are currently with your research and IT skills.
There are no right or wrong answers, but should give you an idea of the expectations around those skills. If you find that you need some improvement, you can reach out to your tutor about some ideas to brush up on your IT or research skills so you are set up for success when it comes time to complete your assessments.

There will be times when you need to use the internet to do research to complete activities or assessments.
Knowing where to look to find information, knowing the difference between useful and not useful information and knowing how to put the information you find into your own words is very important. If it seems your submission doesn't reflect your own thoughts and work, you may be requested to provide evidence, or even worse, not pass the assessment.
Activity – Quiz
The following quiz gives you a chance to see how much you already know about online studies and plagiarism and how to credit sources you use. Use the arrows to progress through the ten questions, and decide if the actions of Jared, Ngaire, and Atamai result in an assessment that achieves a mark of pass or not pass.
