CHCCCS020 – Respond effectively to behaviours of concern

Unit Purpose

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to respond effectively to behaviours of concern of people. Skills are associated with handling difficult incidents rather than managing ongoing behaviour difficulties.

There are no pre-requisites for this unit.

Suggested Hours

Although everyone will work at their own pace, we suggest you allow approximately 20 hours to complete this unit competently, including seminars, tutorials, assignments, and practical activities

This unit is designed to introduce you to responding effectively to behaviours of concern. You will learn about the different behaviours of concern and the skills associated with handling difficult incidents.

Overview of Sections

Section 1: Identify Behaviours of Concern and Plan Responses

This section of the Study Guide will provide you with an introduction to the various behaviours of concern, including why clients may present with behaviours of concern. You will also learn about identifying potential instance of behaviours of concerns and ways to plan for and prevent potential instances of behaviours of concern. This will involve learning the importance of accessing staff and resources and prioritising safety while responding to behaviours of concern.

Section 2: Apply Response

In this section, you will learn about working within organisation policies and procedures when responding to behaviours of concern and seeking assistance as required.
