Welcome to New Zealand Certificate of Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Care and Support) (Level 4)

The aim of this programme is to provide you with the essential skills, capabilities, and knowledge to offer advanced person-centred and/or relationship-centred care and support for individuals with complex needs, alongside their whānau and/or family.
The programme is designed to support you on your learning journey in the healthcare industry. Not only will you develop your leadership capabilities, but you'll also gain specific skills and knowledge that can be showcased confidently in your workplace.
As a graduate you will be able to:
- Work collaboratively with members of a multi-disciplinary team and the whānau and/or family of a person with complex needs to support the person's health and wellbeing.
- Support registered health professionals by carrying out delegated clinical tasks in a health or wellbeing setting.
- Apply knowledge of health or wellbeing conditions and organisational processes to implement culturally appropriate person-centred/relationship-centred approaches to care for and support a person with complex needs in a health and wellbeing setting.
- Communicate effectively in a culturally appropriate manner, including preparing and delivering reports and recording information as required by the organisation, and engaging in challenging conversations, in a health or wellbeing setting.
- Apply leadership skills in a health or wellbeing setting by formal or informal mentoring and/or coaching of colleagues.

How will you learn?
There is a combination of self-directed activities as well as group sessions. The learning hours include:
- reading, watching, and completing the activities on the online campus
- self-directed theory (researching areas of interest or where you need more support)
- attending live sessions
- completing assessments.
Get qualified!
A total of 120 credits are awarded for the Programme.
All 21 assessments are competency-based and must be completed in full.
Assessments are recorded as one of two outcomes:
- Achieved – all assessment work has been achieved by the student to the competency standards set in the assessment.
- Not Achieved – the student has yet to complete the relevant work to be awarded the assessment.
To qualify for the New Zealand Certificate in Study and Employment Pathways (Level 4) you must submit and achieve competency in all of the assessments.
Trigger warning
As a healthcare student, you need to be aware that you are exposed to sensitive and possibly triggering themes on health and wellbeing. These topics could include subjects such as loss and grief and palliative care. There could also be case study examples that can be uncomfortable, disturbing or confronting to deal with.
