Welcome to Module 3

In this module you will learn what a support worker’s role is in terms of professional and ethical practice, role boundaries, what it means to work under supervision. You will also look at legal frameworks and risk identification and management.

You will review organisational policy and procedures and learn to distinguish between personal, ethical and moral beliefs and the needs of the people you support.

You will look at models of self-reflection, the reflection cycle and how self-reflection can be used to improve practice. You will also learn to set goals for personal and professional development.

A core responsibility is to respect the rights of clients. This includes providing respectful, non-judgmental, and non-discriminatory service to clients and promoting self-determination. These rights are protected by both legal and ethical frameworks as well as a range of typical organisational requirements.
