The thrills of entering and spectating local and major tournaments is exciting. The nerves you build up, the friends you make and the excitement you feel watching the tournament's grand finals. Depending on your location finding the local scene can be challenging or very easy.

Social media such as discord, twitch, and Facebook are great resources for local and national scenes.

Becoming a professional player is a big journey to undertake. It requires a lot of time, effort and resources. Goal setting, skill development, and reflection is required. Upskilling is necessary in all aspects of life; video games are no different. Understanding the game meta, callouts, and effectiveness of many or even the entire game is key to competing against other professional players.

Creating a big goal e.g – Reach Diamond in League of Legends by the end of the year. Gives you the big picture, now you can set small goals throughout the year. Playing for set hours every day, practicing meta or learning new strategies.

Making connection with other players, tournament organizers, coaches, and people is essential, not only in life but as a future eSports player. Building meaningful relationships can benefit both parties in multiple aspects of life. Networking can help ground yourself and become more self-aware of the language you use, how you listen and absorb information, and even your digital presences.

Networking with brands can lead to sponsorships for player, teams and tournaments. For player and teams, brands can help financially. Travel, discount offers, and utilities. With brands helping players and teams they have more time to focus on upskilling.

For tournaments, a sponsorship can increase player and viewer interest via spot prizes and increasing the total prize pool. Brands usually consist of tech companies, energy drinks, and internet providers.
