CHCPOL002 - Develop and implement policy

Unit Purpose

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to research, develop and implement new policy initiatives. This unit applies to workers who are directly responsible for driving new policy directives across a business unit, team, or service.

Suggested Hours

Although everyone will work at their own pace, we suggest you allow approximately 90 hours to complete this unit competently, including seminars, tutorials, assignments and practical activities

Performance Evidence

The candidate must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the job role. There must be evidence that the candidate has:

  • engaged in consultation with at least 3 different stakeholders, including

This unit is designed to introduce you to the communication skills used in effective counselling practice. You will learn about the communication process, microskills, specialist counselling interview skills, and how to ensure effective counselling communication practice.

Overview of Sections

Section 1: An Introduction to Organisational Policy

This section of the module will provide you with an introduction to organisational policy, including key forms and functions of policy, areas of focus in developing policies for practice management, and the legal and ethical context of policy development and implementation.

Section 2: Preparing to Draft Policies

In this section, you will learn core methods, processes, and resources for identifying policy development needs and beginning the policy development process.

Section 3: Drafting Policies

As the title suggests, here you will learn about the practicalities of writing effective workplace policies.

Section 4: Testing and Implementing Policy Initiatives

In the final section of the module, you will learn key processes for gaining stakeholder engagement, testing them, presenting policies for formal ratification and implementation, and how to review and continuously improve your organisation’s policies.
