Skin and nail disorders of the hands AND FEET

When the client attends for a manicure or pedicure treatment, the Nail Technician should always look at the client’s skin and nails to check that no infection or disease or injury is present which might contraindicate treatment. Always remember that you are a Nail Technician, not a Doctor. If in doubt… get it checked out.

 

 

Definition of a nail disorder

Is a condition of the nail caused by injury, disease or an imbalance in the body.

Description

Cuts and Abrasions

Open wound where secondary infection could occur

Inflamed

Red and swollen

Infected

Red and swollen, pus may be present

Swelling

Area larger than usual
