This programme builds on the understanding of the design process acquired in the Diploma in Design: Web and Graphic (Level 5) by applying creative solutions to real-world problems. The programme focuses on vocationally relevant training, with software skills being delivered in project-centric context.

Module Overview

This programme is delivered in 4 modules.

Orientation Useful information, tips and instructions to get started. NA
Module 1 UX Design In this module, learners will learn the fundamentals of UX design, incorporating user feedback into their designs in an iterative process to develop the best solution. They will learn advanced HTML and CSS, and introductory JavaScript to create interactive effects. 30 
Module 2 Foundation Coding At the end of this module, the learner will understand the principles of programming. The learner will be able to use JavaScript to build UI components and to enhance the user experience of a modern web page and they will have experience with JavaScript libraries typically used by industry. 30 
Module 3 App Design Students will learn how to display dynamic data in screen displays. They will be able to accept data feeds produced by server-side logic and display it appropriately for the intended use by the target audience. As in the workplace, they will work in teams with Agile methodology and version control systems and will learn to make maintainable applications through the use of dependency management tools. 30 
Module 4 Content Management Systems Students will determine the communication skills necessary to interact with clients effectively and produce a CMS for a real client. They will assemble a business agreement prior to production and produce documentation for administration on project completion. They will also learn how to hook into a content management system’s inbuilt code to create custom themes and functionality. The websites will be compatible across browsers, devices and platforms and will follow best practices for CMS security. 30
